A poignant clip of Harry Styles from his Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe in 2019 has resurfaced, following his former bandmate Liam Payne‘s tragic death aged 31.
Liam died instantly from injuries including a fractured skull when he fell 45ft from a third floor hotel balcony at the Casa Sur Hotel in Argentina on Wednesday.
Following the devastating news of his death, fans have been revisiting past videos and interviews of the beloved pop star and the rest of One Direction.
One clip of Harry, 30, who was close friends with the singer, has resonated with fans in the wake of the sad news, as they wrote online that they ‘can’t imagine what he’s feeling and thinking right now’.
In the interview, which aired in 2019, the Watermelon Sugar hitmaker talks about the difficulties of dealing with the loss of a friend.
Reflecting, he said: ‘I think you have those moments where – and every single person does it who’s ever lost a friend – whether you’re close to them or not.
‘I think everyone has that thing of like, I wish I had just asked one more time if they’re okay you know.’
Adding: ‘If there’s any positive thing that could possibly come out of that it’s that now the conversations that I have with friends about that stuff is way different.
‘In term of like, you ask a friend if they’re okay and it’s like ‘yeah, yeah I’m good’ and I’m more prepared to have that ‘No but are you actually okay?”
A fan who shared the clip on X, wrote: ‘Now I’m thinking of when Harry talked about how hard it is for him to process the passing of a friend and says: ‘I wish I had just asked one more time if they were okay’. Oh I can’t imagine what he’s feeling and thinking right now.’
Other social media users flocked to the replies to share their sadness, penning: ‘Same goes for Niall, Zayn, and Louis, they were such a huge part of each other’s life at some point.’

The popstar had reportedly arrived in the Latin American country earlier this month to attend his ex bandmate Niall Horan’s concert.
Buenos Aires police said in a statement that Liam fell from the third floor of the Casa Sur Hotel in the trendy Palermo neighborhood of Argentina’s capital, resulting in ‘extremely serious injuries.’
Medics confirmed his death on the spot, the statement said.
Alberto Crescenti, head of the Buenos Aires emergency services, revealed Payne had a ‘cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death’.
He also told TN television that Liam was dead when paramedics arrived at 5pm local time (9pm UK time), adding: ‘Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life.
Liam’s identity was confirmed by emergency services by checking his passport, but police do not yet have conclusive evidence regarding the circumstances of his fall.
The singer fell from a third-floor suite with a balcony overlooking an interior pool and the on-site Michelin-star restaurant where he landed in the courtyard.
Late last night, police in forensic suits were minutely examining the room and its balcony after colleagues below erected a red tent on the spot where Payne died.
The patio where he died is next to the swimming pool and is also the site for outdoor tables at the hotel’s plant-based Sarco restaurant. No diners were there at the time, because Sacro closes after lunch at 4pm before reopening for dinner at 7.30pm.
