David Harris passes away at 75, claims report

As reported by The New York Times, actor David Harris has died at the age of 75 after suffering from cancer, as revealed by his daughter.

In the widely-beloved cult action movie The Warriors, Harris played the role of Cochise. Although he was a supporting character, Harris’ Cochise has been a standout character for fans since the film’s release in 1979.

In an interview with The Five Count in 2014, David Harris spoke fondly about his experience of starring in the cult classic action film saying, “It feels great to know that you’re a part of some film that’s history. Certain actors are blessed enough to get in a film that is just iconic and people are going to talk about for the next thousand years.”

Apart from his role in The Warriors, Harris starred in many other notable films and TV shows such as NYPD Blue, Law & Order, and A Solider’s Story. Harris’s final credited screen role was in the series First Wives Club in 2019.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the lead singer of the concept album Warriors, based on the film The Warriors, posted on Instagram following Harris’ death, writing, “Shocked and saddened at the passing of David Harris, aka the original Cochise in The Warriors. We were celebrating and giving him his flowers for his unforgettable performance just over a week ago. Grateful for that moment with him.”
