Senator Amos Yohanna, representing AdamawaNorth Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has empowered youths in Adamawa State by providing training in poultry production and start-up grants through the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology (FCAH&PT) in Vom, Plateau State, aiming to reduce poverty and tackle unemployment.
The three-day training workshop, facilitated by Senator Yohanna, was held in collaboration with Kannon Royal Resources Limited at Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, Adamawa State.
Participants were trained on different areas of poultry business such as brooding, management practices, biosecurity and disease management, processing, value addition and marketing.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the training workshop, Afeshetu Afegbai, Chairman, Kannon Royal Resources Ltd, said that there is no better way to build a strong nation than by empowering its youths.
“If we can save the youths from being dissipated by negative tendencies. If we can harness it for the right purposes, if we are honest towards our youth, if we can give them proper orientation, I am sure they would bring about food security, decent society devoid of social vices, universal harmony and promote global peace.
Raji, also advised the Youths to take the Vocational Training seriously in order to achieve the set-goals.
Senator Yohanna, also called on participants to make absolute use of the knowledge gained during the training to fortify themselves by coming up with very good poultrybusiness.
In his opening remarks,Dr. Jude Opara, the Provost of Federal college of Animal Health & Production Technology, VOM encouraged the Youths to be more focused and embrace Livestock Business as a good source of Income.
Participants, who benefitted from the programme in areas of practical experience and management of poultrybusiness said the knowledge gained will lead to better income, reduction in the rate of unemployment, improve welfare conditions and poverty alleviation.
A total of 80 youths were trained and empowered with starter packs.
