Kanu Nwankwo, former Super Eagles captain, has tipped compatriot and Atalanta winger, Ademola Lookman, to win the 2024 African Player of the Year award.

Following his outstanding performance for club and country in recent times, the Nigerian forward has emerged as a strong favourite to win the highly rated individual award.

Kanu, while speaking to Brila FM radio, said Lookman is in a class of his own and deserves to win the award.

“He is a very good player, he is humble he works very hard. I’m rooting for him.

“Iwant him to win and I believe he is going to win. He has done very well at his club side, country and, for him to be at the Ballon d’Or, you can see the levels and how they rate him.

“Coming to Africa, I don’t know any other player who is doing what he is doing. I believe that this is his year as the African football player of the year.

“Look at him, look at the other boys he will win it,” he said.
