In 1971, Uganda faced many problems after Idi Amin came to power. He destroyed the progress that the country had made since it became independent in 1962. Amin’s government was known for its cruelty and poor leadership, which led to the collapse of many parts of Uganda’s economy and society.

When President Yoweri Museveni and his group came to power, they found themselves in a difficult situation. They first had to fix the damage that Amin had caused. This meant rebuilding the economy, restoring peace, and improving the lives of Ugandans. After fixing these problems, they could focus on their own goals for the country.

To guide Uganda’s recovery and growth, Museveni’s government created the National Resistance Movement (NRM) 10-point program. This program was a plan to transform Uganda’s economy and society. It included things like improving education, healthcare, and agriculture, as well as creating jobs for the people. The NRM’s program aimed to bring long-term stability and prosperity to Uganda.
