Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick will make a late check on Pau Cubarsi before deciding whether to name the centre-back in his starting side for Sunday’s La Liga clash with Real Sociedad.
Cubarsi suffered a nasty cut to his face during Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade, with the youngster believed to have needed as many as 10 stitches.
The 17-year-old, at that stage, looked to be out of the game with Real Sociedad, but it is believed that he could play in a mask this weekend, with Barcelona confident that there will be no risks attached to him featuring.
Eric Garcia, Ronald Araujo, Ferran Torres, Andreas Christensen, Marc Bernal and Marc-Andre ter Stegen remain unavailable for selection, but the Catalan giants did not pick up any fresh fitness issues against Red Star Belgrade.
Flick will make at least a couple of changes to his starting side for this match, though, with Alejandro Balde in line to return at left-back, while Dani Olmo should feature in the number 10 position.
Jules Kounde had a standout match against Red Star Belgrade, providing three assists from right-back, and the Frenchman will also be in the starting side against Real Sociedad this weekend.
Barcelona’s front three have all been exceptional this season, with Robert Lewandowski scoring 19 goals and registering two assists in his 16 appearances, while Raphinha has 12 goals and 10 assists, and Lamine Yamal six goals and eight assists, with the two players also featuring on 16 occasions this term.
Barcelona possible starting lineup: Pena; Kounde, Cubarsi, I Martinez, Balde; De Jong, Pedri; Yamal, Olmo, Raphinha; Lewandowski
