Big Brother fans are demanding one housemate be kicked out after making “racially charged” jokes.

Mayoress and accounts manager Sarah was called into the Diary Room during Thursday’s episode (November 8), after she made a number of comments which left viewers and housemates horrified. Some fans have been left livid at Sarah’s behaviour and have called on bosses to remove her from the show immediately.

In a previous shopping task, Sarah could be heard chanting “Stop the gloats!” – a reference to former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak ‘s manifesto pledge to “stop the boats” coming across the English Channel. The phrase was coined as part of his campaign to crack down on immigration and “swiftly remove” anyone who entered the UK illegally.

Similarly, in another shopping task, she deemed fellow housemate Hanah “gloaty”. These comments were then relayed back to Hanah as part of their recent shopping task, which aired to viewers on ITV2 on Thursday night.

However, the comments did not go down well with Hanah, as well as fellow housemates Khaled and Segun. With all three being people of colour or from racial minorities, they discussed the comments and how there had been no racial sensitivity around the remarks.

Hanah said in a chat with Segun: “I don’t know how I feel about that one. I don’t like that.” She later went into the Diary Room to confess her true feelings to Big Brother, admitting she felt belittled by the comments.

“I don’t think that’s funny, if I’m being honest with you,” she exclaimed. “I studied international politics; I graduated with 2:1, babes. I’m not stupid.”

Sarah was then promptly brought into the Diary Room and asked to give an explanation for her comments, after having the remarks read back to her. Sarah, who admitted in the house she had voted for UKIP explained that the comments were made in jest and she did not mean to cause offence.

“For me, it was just funny because it rhymed, and I don’t really talk about politics that often because it’s not something I’m interested in, but it was a joke,” Sarah explained. “It had no racial connotations, I have no connotations about boats or immigration, or anything like that. It was just making funny of political slogans.”

Sarah would go on to apologise for the remarks and described the situation as “funny wordplay”. However, fans were quick to call on ITV bosses to remove her from the house.

“STOP THE WHATT??? Not Sarah baiting herself out to being a racist… she needs to get EVICTED immediately that ain’t no joke,” one fan penned.

A second user added: “In the space of five minutes, Sarah has made an ignorant racial ‘joke’ body-shamed a 20-year-old girl and has humiliated her in front of the entire group.” Whilst a third account wrote: “Come on Big Brother just remove Sarah, she deserves it and you’ve removed people for less before!”
