Barcelona emphatically thumped Crvena Zvezda in their latest UCL encounter, putting five past their counterparts. It was a clinical display from the Catalan giants, but the victory came at a bloody cost—quite literally—with one of their central defenders, Pau Cubarsi, receiving a nasty blow to his face.
It was the 67th minute of the game when Pau Cubarsi was tackled late by Cherif Ndiaye as the latter drove a kick to the face of the Barcelona defender. It instantly led to Cubarsi bleeding profusely and he was forced to be taken off. With a bloody face while going off the pitch, Barcelona later uploaded a picture of Cubarsi with ten stitches on the face and captioned it “I’m ok”.
Cubarsi played a crucial role throughout his residence in the game as he bolstered the heart of the Barcelona defence against Red Star Belgrade . Despite conceding a couple of goals, the Hansi Flick-led unit showed promise, grit and gumption, and eventually precision, to ram open the gates of the Serbian stalwarts.

Inigo Martinez opened the scoring for Barcelona in the 13th minute while Silas restored parity for Red Star Belgrade. However, a relentless Barcelona hammered away at will as a brace from Robert Lewandowski, followed by a strike from Raphinha, left the hosts rattled. Fermin Lopez whooped in the last nail on the coffin before Milson could pull one back, but the damage was long done by then.
Hansi Flick opens up on Barcelona’s brilliant win against Crvena zvezda
Securing a monumental win, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick heaped praises on his wards. He underlined how the team played out a high-percentage game and that quality propelled them to the eighth position in the points table after the first four games played.
We were at 100% for 90 minutes. I value what we have done and everything that we are doing. We’re playing very well with the ball, but we’re also creating pressure and defending very well. It wasn’t easy because Red Star know how to play, and how to defend. We had a great game.
Hansi Flick told at the press-conference after their significant win
He further added the importance of the victory and the delight that followed suit. He also heaped special praise on Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde .
