Ryan Walters and Purdue are in a rough spot in the first year of the new Big Ten. The Boilermakers sit at 1-7 on the season and dead last in the conference standings.
Because of this, CBS and 247Sports writer Chris Hummer believes Walters is on the hot seat at Purdue. The second-year head coach only has five wins through two seasons, a drastic change from when Purdue was in the Big Ten championship in 2022 with Jeff Brohm.

The Boilermakers have had one of the more challenging schedules in the country this season. They have already lost to Notre Dame, Oregon, Illinois, and Nebraska. However, the schedule doesn’t get any easier from this point forward.
Purdue still has to play No. 6 Penn State in West Lafayette and take road trips to Michigan State as well as archrival No. 8 Indiana. If that isn’t enough, the Boilermakers will take on the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus this weekend, a game that was decided by more than 30 points last year.
