Al Nassr witnessed a great start to this weekend. The Knights of the Najd secured an emphatic 5-1 victory over Al Ain in their Matchday 4 of the AFC Champions League. However, one moment during their impressive win led to an unfortunate turn of events, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. now allegedly facing a major fine as a consequence.

The punishment was given by the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Apparently, during the match, five people entered an unauthorized place at a police meeting of the Iraqi police. It is being reported by @X99i3 on X that a lack of security in Al Awwal Park, Al Nassr’s home ground, saw this incident transpire which only forced the AFC committee to punish Stefano Pioli’s side.

As a result, Al Nassr would be required to pay a fine of $3,750 to the AFC committee. Although it’s unclear whether the Saudi Pro League side has the right to defend themselves or the decision, it’s most likely that they would be required to draw a cheque in favor of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee anyway.

It’s also unclear as to why those five unidentified people decided to trespass on an area that was clearly unrestricted to be accessed by only the ones who are allowed to do so. Whether they had any specific intention to enter the unauthorized place would be asked by a thorough investigation by the officials.

Furthermore, it also raises concern over Al Nassr’s negligence in security. Clearly, their lack of tight protection near the stadium premises makes them accountable for all the five people who were able to get unidentified access in the police meeting in the first place. Regardless it remains to be seen how Al Nassr will be tackling this issue.

They were surely lucky that they had a terrific night on the pitch. Otherwise, it would have only been a bad day at the office for them, especially after this punishment.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr continue to balance themselves this season!

Anderson Talisca broke the deadlock for Al Nassr vs Al Ain inside 5 minutes, with Cristiano Ronaldo adding the second of the night before an unfortunate own-goal from an Al Ain player saw Stefano Pioli’s side end the first half with a lead of three goals. The latter 45 minutes saw the away side also open their account due to an own goal from Al Nassr goalie Bento during the hour mark.

However, the Yellow and Blue army were again back to scoring, with Wesley adding a fourth of the night before Talisca managed to bag a brace with an injury-time finish. The win successfully helped Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. to clinch the crucial three points in their group stage. It also is a perfect bounce back from their latest setback.

Before the beginning of November, the Knights of Najd suffered a major blow in their domestic pursuits as they were knocked out of the Kings Cup of Champions. A narrow defeat at the hands of Al Taawoun saw them exit the tournament within the round of 16 stage. The following match saw them play a 1-1 draw against archrivals and current Saudi Pro League leaders Al Hilal.

Either way, it remains to be seen whether they are able to have a productive season.
