Adamu Abubakar, Plateau United’s winger, has exclusively told Completesports.com that he is grateful to God for his invitation to the Super Eagles B Team camp, pledging to be a good ambassador for the Tin City side while representing the national team.
Abubakar, a left winger, has claimed Plateau United’s Man of the Match (MOTM) award four times in six NPFL games.
He is also one of Plateau United’s top scorers with four goals, a performance that clearly justifies his national team call-up by Augustine ‘Cerezo’ Eguavoen.
“I’m grateful to God for my invitation to the Super Eagles team. I’m also grateful to my club and teammates, without whom it wouldn’t have been possible. I will work hard to represent the name and image of the club at the national level,” Abubakar told Completesports.com on Friday morning.
Abubakar admitted that getting a national team call-up is only the beginning, saying it requires hard work to excel.
“To be noticed in the league and receive an invitation is one thing. Another is working hard enough to prove that you deserve the national team call-up.
“Every player’s dream is to play for the national team. That’s my dream too, and hopefully, from there, one can attract the interest of European clubs.”
He also spoke about his MOTM awards, expressing his hope to remain fit and injury-free to consistently give his best for his club and earn more accolades.
“Yes, you don’t begin a race and stop halfway. I pray to remain injury-free and stay at the top of my game because I want to win more awards.
“We’ll play Rangers this weekend, and hopefully, we can get maximum points and, of course, I aim to score or win the Man of the Match award.”
Plateau United are sixth on the table with 14 points and will welcome fifth-placed Rangers, who have 15 points, in this weekend’s Match Day 11 fixture.
