Former Rep Kabiru Classic and PDP Officials Defect to APC in Zamfara

Former House of Representatives member, Kabiru Yahayya Classic, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement came on Thursday, following a meeting with key Zamfara APC stakeholders, including State Chairman Alhaji Tukur Danfulani and the Chairman of Senator Abdul’aziz Yari’s Political Organization, Alhaji Lawal M. Liman, in Kaduna.

Kabiru Classic, who represented Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency in the 9th Assembly from 2019 to 2023, cited a lack of justice and fairness in the Zamfara PDP chapter as the reason for his switch. Joining him in the defection were the PDP structure in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, including the LG PDP Chairman and 10 out of 11 PDP Ward Chairmen in Talata Mafara.

In his statement, Classic expressed his support for the APC, saying, “Today, I officially announce my defection from the PDP to the APC, along with all PDP structures in Talata Mafara, including the Local Government EXCO and nearly all Ward Chairmen.”

Welcoming the defectors, APC State Chairman Tukur Danfulani hailed the move, describing it as a major gain for the party. “This is a great development. More PDP leaders in Zamfara are expected to join the APC soon. We assure fair treatment for all our new members, as the APC is built on a strong structure with internal democracy.”

Alhaji Lawal M. Liman, Chairman of Sen. Yari’s Political Organization, also praised Kabiru Classic’s decision, emphasizing the APC’s commitment to progress in Zamfara and Nigeria. This wave of defections comes just a week after Federal Lawmaker Suleiman Gummi, representing Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency, announced his departure from the PDP to join the APC.
