A week before its public debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show, we learned a lot more about the new Aion UT from GAC from a regulator. Most importantly, we know that the car is closer in size to a Volkswagen ID.3 than a BYD Dolphin.

Strangely, although there are three listing entries given by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), we can’t see any difference in them. The new EV hatchback from GAC brand Aion measures 4270, 1850, and 1575 mm (l/w/h) with a wheelbase of 2750 mm. Its weight is listed at either 1510 or 1540 kg, and buyers have a choice of 16 or 17-inch wheels.

The Aion UT is powered by a TZ160XYD3A02 permanent magnet synchronous motor, Which has a maximum power of 100 kW. It will use lithium iron phosphate batteries, and the car’s top speed is 150 km/h.

Previous pictures have shown a silver version, but the new MIIT picture shows a green version. We can see it has a split-tone look, with silver and black above the window line.

The UT was previously known by the internal codename AY2. It is the second model from the currently all-electric brand to be designed as a global model, following the second-generation Aion V.

With listing information now declared, it is possible that pre-sales may even begin at the Guangzhou Show or at least by the end of the year. European sales are expected to begin in 2025, and the car will play an important role in expanding GAC’s brand’s sales overseas.

It should be noted from the listing information that there are versions with and without cameras, radars and a sunroof.
