Mohamed Salah has been at the centre of much discussion this season with his Liverpool contract situation rumbling on amid his continued incredible form
Gary Neville has suggested Mohamed Salah might be hinting at his Liverpool future through his social media posts. Salah’s performances on the pitch have helped Liverpool to the top of the Premier League and Champions League tables – but his uncertain future continues to be a hot topic of conversation.
Despite reported ongoing discussions about a potential new deal for Salah, as well as Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold whose contracts also end in the summer of 2025, fans are left guessing about whether their future lies at Anfield.
Salah has certainly been more open than most when it comes to his expiring deal, which was brought into sharper focus following his poignant Instagram post after Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Brighton this past Saturday (November 2).

The 32-year-old’s match-winning goal against the Seagulls propelled Liverpool back above Manchester City in the standinds. It was a victory that he commemorated on Instagram with the words: “Top of the table is where this club belongs. Nothing less. All teams win matches but there’s only one champion in the end. That’s what we want.
“Thank you for your support last night. No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like.” The last section of his post was highlighted as particularly thought-provoking by Neville while speaking to Rebecca Lowe on the latest episode of the It’s Called Soccer podcast.
The Manchester United icon gave his take on Salah’s comments as he said: “I thought he’d leave about three, four, five years ago; I didn’t think he’d score the goals he’s scored over this time and be as brilliant as he has.

“I don’t know, is he sending a message to them because he wants a golden package to stay, and that’s him saying, ‘You better value me in the same way players have been valued at other clubs’.
“He’s got a big wage packet already but is he saying, ‘Give me the length of contract and value in contract that I deserve for what I’ve done for this club and I’m letting the fans know I’m not quite happy but I am happy’.”
Salah first spoke publicly about his contract after Liverpool’s emphatic victory against United in September, when he shared with Sky Sports: “As you know, it’s my last year in the club.
“I just want to enjoy it, I don’t want to think about it. I feel I’m free to play football and let’s see what’s going to happen next year.”
He has indeed been on fire for the Reds this term, netting nine times and providing nine assists in 16 appearances across all competitions. He set up two goals as Liverpool made it four wins out of four in Europe with a 4-0 demolition of Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday night.
