How a ‘family smartphone’ can help keep kids off social media

Rather than cave to their eldest daughter’s long-running campaign for a smartphone, Mark and Angie Zmarzly found a way to delay the inevitable for a few years by buying a “family smartphone” that their three kids could take to the park or their after-school jobs.

The Brisbane couple wanted to keep phones at bay until their kids are 16, without leaving them disconnected in the real world or isolated from their peer group.
