I’m a sweater snob; I own way too many and have very high standards for my top layers. Among the things I ask myself while shopping: Does it make me feel like I’m wrapped in a cloud? Is it itchy? Does it look too oversized? So, you can only imagine my surprise when I fell in love with Everlane’s Cocoon Crew Sweater, which comes from a Katie Holmes-worn brand.

The heavyweight top may look like any other cozy knit, but a deeper look reveals standout features like a relaxed fit, crew neck, and bubbly body (much like the name suggests). Though, the fisherman ribbed stitching is really what sold me, providing just the right amount of texture and fluff.

The sweater is available in sizes XXS to XXL, and while I opted for an XS (I’m 4-foot-11, for reference), I could’ve gone with the S for a roomier fit. Still, the secured size fit me perfectly, offering a tailored top that’s snuggly enough to wear around the house, but structured enough to wear to the office. Not to mention, the navy hue goes with tons of wardrobe selections, while the yellow and red colors are great for adding diversity to any clothing collection. 

And when I say I fell in love with the sweater, I mean it. The first week I got it, I couldn’t stop wearing it, donning the top nearly every night for a week straight. (Gross? Maybe. But I would rather call it fashion editor-approved than a faux pas.) Other shoppers were just as impressed, calling the Cocoon Crew a “beautiful sweater” with “great weight and shape.” Another reviewer said it’s the “best sweater [they’ve] purchased in years,” and if that doesn’t tell you something, I don’t know what will. It also passed the wash test, holding true to its shape and softness after a thorough cleaning and dry cycle.
