India Advances Bharat 6G Vision: DoT Develops Multi-Port Switch For Universal Broadband Antenna
The government is developing a multi-port switch for a single broadband antenna that supports all 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G bands in an effort to forward the Bharat 6G Vision. The goal of this technique is to allow these bands to be handled noise-free by a single antenna.
In collaboration with CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CEERI), Pilani, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT)’s Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) is creating a “Multiport Switch with Tuneable Impedance Matching Network for a Single Broadband Antenna.” The DoT’s Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF), which aids in the development of telecommunications solutions by Indian entrepreneurs, academic institutions, and research and development centres, is the source of funding for this initiative.
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharat 6G Vision, the project, which is based on micro-electromechanical technology, intends to cover numerous bands with improved antenna performance. The DoT has financed two next-generation testbeds for 6G research and is now considering 470 proposals under the “Accelerated Research on 6G Ecosystem” program.
By 2030, PM Modi wants India to be a major force in 6G technology. India is leading the world in 6G patent filings and is making progress in 6G research after deploying 5G so quickly. In the next three years, India is expected to contribute one-sixth of global standards and earn 10% of 6G patents, according to a government panel.
India successfully introduced and updated ground-breaking resolutions at the first-ever International Telecommunications Union-World Telecommunication Standardisation Assembly (ITU-WTSA 2024), which was recently convened in New Delhi. The resolutions received widespread support from member countries around the world.
