Infinix Zero Flip Review: A foldable that’s fun, fresh and actually affordable

From its large display and long battery life to a clever camera setup, the Zero Flip offers a lot of value at an appealing price. Here’s how it stands out in a growing market for foldable smartphones.
Design and display
The Infinix Zero Flip is sturdily built and offers a premium feel from the moment you take it out of the box. It has a 3.64-inch cover screen and a 6.9-inch main AMOLED display, both with 120 Hz refresh rate and 1,100 nits and 1,400 nits of peak brightness respectively. The cover screen offers handy features too, like mini-apps and even cute animated pets that add a playful touch.
For context, the Galaxy Z Flip6 has a 3.4-inch screen on the outside and features a 6.7-inch display when unfolded. While the quality of the panel does not match Samsung’s, it also does not disappoint in daily usage. The folding crease is very visibility there but as is with any other foldable, you get used to it with time.
The hinge on the device also supports a flexible 30-150-degree multi-angle hovering feature. However, I found it is not as strong as the one on the Galaxy Z Flip6. Having said that, for the price and given that it is a first-generation product, the Infinix Zero Flip holds up really well.
Camera
With a 50MP camera system, the Zero Flip does a decent job — something you would expect from a ₹50,000 smartphone. The artificial intelligence on the device also processes the images quite well while adjusting the lighting, contrast, brightness and even noise reduction. The selfie camera, despite being 50MP, did not quite perform but since it is easy to use the main camera as the front camera too, maybe we can let that go — again, it’s not something we can say about a second-gen or later device.
Performance and battery life
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chip and with up to 512GB storage (excellent for its price), the Zero Flip easily handles everyday tasks but struggles a little when it comes to heavy loads or even gaming. While it is understandable for the smartphone to get warm on such occasions, it weirdly also runs hot when using apps like WhatsApp on the cover display.
The 4,720mAh battery, one of the largest in foldables, lasted me a little over a day’s use — longer than the Galaxy Z Flip6 but not by a huge margin. This could also be because of the varying optimisations in the battery technology. With support for 70W fast charging, the device charges from 0 to 100% in under an hour.
Software and user experience
Infinix went big on AI. From photo editing with the AI Eraser to voice-assisted tasks with the Folax assistant, the Zero Flip’s AI helps you out in small but meaningful ways. There’s even a MOL 2.1 Translation feature for instant translations and JBL-tuned audio for an upgraded sound experience.
The Infinix Zero Flip runs on Android 14-based XOS 14 with two years of OS upgrades and three years of security updates. While the UI has menial bloatware and ads, it does feel a little dated in comparison to its competitors. If the AI features give it an edge, the user experience brings it down.
Final Verdict
If you’re looking for an entry-level foldable that feels premium but comes with some trade-offs, the Infinix Zero Flip is worth a look. It won’t match up to the Galaxy Z Flip6 in all aspects, but at this price, Infinix has created a real contender that gives more people a taste of foldable fun without the sky-high cost.
