It would be unwise for the judge to sentence the president to any jail time. Jonathan Turley

Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, said New York Judge Juan Merchan, who convicted President-elect Donald Trump on 34 counts, would be unwise to sentence the president to a prison sentence

He noted that a logical decision would be consistent with more lenient sentencing practices, although he acknowledged that the judge has historically tended to make tougher decisions in favor of prosecutors. He argued that President Trump’s prison sentence would likely result in an appeal and that the president would eventually avoid prison time. He highlighted the possibility of other sentencing options, such as house arrest or community service, which he said would be more appropriate given the circumstances of the case.

He said in an interview with Fox News: “What the judge has to do is to grant bail. But the problem is that this has not been the trend of his decisions in the past. He had a rather heavy hand from the prosecutors. But it would not be prudent for the judge to sentence the president to prison because there would be an appeal and the president would not have to go to prison.

There is a lot of room for confinement at home or community service, and I think that’s the option here.” This was a really horrible case from the beginning, even people in other channels criticized this case as baseless and unprecedented. I think this is where the referee will have to listen to his angels better and finish. If he imposes a harsh sentence, he will appeal and may even lose.
