ITV’s newest smash thriller Until I Kill You is drawing in audiences cross the country, but fans were shocked to learn there is a scary real-life connection to the Netflix hit
ITV drama Until I Kill You has a scary real-life link to Netflix hit Baby Reindeer.
The thrilling true crime drama aired this week and has drawn in millions of viewers with its chilling plot line. The show follows Delia Balmer, who was an ex-girlfriend of John Sweeney, who had subjected her to years of abuse.
Making its debut on ITV on Sunday (November 3), the four-part series has already gripped viewers, who have watched in horror as Delia suffers at the hands of her former flame. However, fans have now made a terrifying discovery that now links the show with Netflix’s comedy drama Baby Reindeer.

Aside from the thrilling nature of both shows, it was revealed that both programmes are set in the same part of London. To make things even more intense, it is believed that both shows are linked to the same pub.
In the first episode of the series, Delia, played by Anna Maxwell Martin, meets lover John, played by Shaun Evans, meeting in a pub. By the end of the scene, however, the tone changes and Delia is seen in court giving evidence against her former flame years later.
John was later convicted of killing two different women – Melissa Halstead and Paula Fields – and was sentenced to life in prison for their murders. Alongside the drama itself, a true crime documentary – which included an interview with the real Delia Balmer – was released.
Recalling the interaction, she looked back at some of the details of the first time they met. “It was a bank holiday Monday, I went to The Hawley Arms pub,” she explained, “they had a good jukebox there.”
However, the pub, which is based in the London borough of Camden, appears to have a darker history than first thought. This is because The Hawley Arms is also the name of the pub where Baby Reindeer creator Richard Gadd met Fiona Harvey, whom the main stalking character is based on.
Court documents from Richard’s case against Fiona, which was filed in July of this year read: “In 2014, I met Harvey at the pub where I worked at the time, the Hawley Arms. I noticed that Harvey looked distressed and offered her a cup of tea on the house.”
The fictionalised version of the story sees the pub renamed as The Heart as Donny Dunn, played by Gadd himself, become the victim of his stalker Martha, played by Jessica Gunning. The series, which was based on the real-life stalking he endured, was lauded by critics and won a slew of awards.
The pub itself is rich with history, having been frequented by Amy Winehouse regularly during the 2000s, according to landlord Craig Seymour. However, in 2008, the pub fell victim to a huge fire at the Camden Market, which left the pub particularly damaged, with the establishment only reopening months later.
