Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day. His body was exhumed by the police on September 21 for an autopsy, as questions and suspicions surrounding his death continued to raise public concern. Several individuals have accused Omowunmi of involvement, but no definitive proof has yet been presented.
In an Instagram Live session, Iyabo Ojo emphasized the need to allow the legal process to unfold before passing judgment on Omowunmi. The actress strongly urged people to refrain from making conclusions based on social media rumors and to report any evidence to the proper authorities instead of engaging in speculation.
She explained, “A lot of people are angry that I’m supporting Wunmi. Until the law proves her guilty with concrete evidence, I will continue to support her. Why would I want to harm someone else’s child when the law has not found her guilty?”
Iyabo Ojo added that despite public backlash, she will not stop supporting Omowunmi until there is clear legal proof of her guilt. “If they like, they should drag or curse me, but I will not stop being nice to her. Until the judge says otherwise, with proof beyond a reasonable doubt, I will stand by her,” she said.
She also highlighted the long-term impact of wrongfully accusing someone. “If I join in crucifying someone’s child and later, you all find out she is innocent, do you think an apology will repair the damage or erase the emotional trauma? It can’t,” Iyabo said. “We need to be mindful of how we destroy someone’s life. I do not make social media judgments; there are laws in this country.”
The actress concluded by urging anyone with evidence to take it to the authorities, stressing that rumors and hearsay should not replace proper legal channels.
