Jake Hager may not have been one of the most popular stars in AEW, but he still gained recognition through his association with Chris Jericho. After leaving AEW, Hager made headlines for endorsing Donald Trump and criticizing AEW owner Tony Khan, which led to his removal from an independent wrestling event. Hager has now addressed his removal from the event following his remarks.
The U.S. Presidential Elections have led many professional wrestlers, who previously kept their political views private, to openly share their stances. Jake Hager is one of those wrestlers, publicly voicing his strong support for Donald Trump, particularly due to his opposition to abortion.
“Yes i am support Trump . Yes im against killing babies . I guess that makes me a racist.”
Jake Hager didn’t really just stop at revealing his support for Trump; he went further by accusing Tony Khan of being a communist and claimed that Khan attempted to silence him and threatened his job for promoting Donald Trump.
“Tony khan is someone who threaten my job if i didnt stop promoting my trump. He js a communist”
Following Jake Hager’s controversial remark about Tony Khan and Donald Trump, Blitzkrieg Pro announced that Jake Hager would no longer be appearing at their event on December 14th in Enfield, CT.
“Jake Hagar will no longer be appearing on December 14th in Enfield, CT. On top of sponsors no longer being willing to work with him, we also just have to do what we think is right for our roster and fans. We’re going to get to work on a replacement asap, however, a few people that are signed to appear:“
Following his removal from the indie show, Jake Hager issued a statement and addressed the backlash he got for his political views and more. Hager stated that in the last couple of days, he received a lot of criticism for his opinions. However, he pointed out that America is a country where people should be free to have different views. Even though he disagrees with many opinions in the wrestling world, he believes everyone has the right to their own thoughts.
Hager also responded to Blitzkrieg Wrestling canceling his appearance, saying it doesn’t bother him and he won’t let them silence him. He criticized Tony Khan for censoring his views, calling it unfair and refusing to be held back by him. Lastly, he told fans who criticized him that he doesn’t care about their opinions.
“Over the past day or two, I have been receiving much back lash for my comments and views on the world. We live in America, Home of the Brave and Land of the Free. Differing opinions are OK. And even though many of you in the industry have wrong and unfounded opinion, they still matter.
In response to Blitzkrieg canceling my appearance, f*** it. They can not silence me. In response to Tony khan’s senseless censoring of my views, f*** it. I won’t be held back by a Communist.
Finally, in response to fan back lash, f*** all of it. I do not care.
