The Kenya Legends’ match against UK Tritons Veterans will act as the curtain raiser for the Elgon Cup first leg clash between Kenya and Uganda in Nairobi.
Kenya Legends are set to face UK Tritons Veterans in the Elgon Cup curtain raiser rescheduled match on November 9 at the RFUEA grounds.
The encounter was initially penciled for November 8 at the Impala grounds. The Legends match is part of their preparations towards their upcoming tour to the Dubai Sevens later in December, where they will be playing in the Vets category.
Five changes have been made to the Kenya Simba’s squad with Eugene Sifuna making a return to action.
Kenya is set to settle scores with neighbours Uganda in the first leg of the 2024 Elgon Cup at RFUEA grounds, with the return fixture slated for November 16, Uganda. This decision was made to enhance the overall experience for fans and to align with the 2024 Elgon Cup.
Kenya Legends chairman Auka Gacheo, expressed enthusiasm about the change, stating, “Postponing our match allows us to be part of a larger celebration of rugby in Kenya. We are excited to showcase our legends right before such an important fixture in the Kenya Rugby calendar as the Elgon Cup.”
On his part Kenya Rugby Union CEO, Thomas Odundo also applauded the decision, emphasizing its impact on the sport’s development in the country. “This move not only provides greater value for our fans but also strengthens the rugby community in Kenya. We are committed to creating memorable experiences that promote the sport and engage our supporters,” he remarked.

Fans are encouraged to attend both matches for a full day of thrilling rugby action, which will also feature a friendly between the 2023/24 Kenya Cup runners up KCB and the 2024 National sevens champions Kenya Harlequin.
