A passenger boarding bridge (JetBridge) collapsed onto a Kuwait Airways (KU) Boeing 777-300ER at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka, causing significant structural damage to the aircraft’s door and fuselage.
The incident occurred Wednesday at 2:30 am, one hour after Kuwait Airways flight KU283 landed. The bridge’s sudden collapse happened after passenger disembarkation, with only the flight crew remaining onboard.
The damaged Boeing 777 aircraft, scheduled for flight KU283 to Kuwait at 2:45 am with 284 passengers, remains grounded for inspection and repairs.
Kuwait Airways mobilized a replacement aircraft to transport the stranded passengers from Dhaka. The airline provided temporary accommodation at a nearby hotel for affected travelers.
Passengers holding connecting flights from Kuwait will receive complimentary travel arrangements to reach their final destinations, according to Kuwait Airways’ contingency protocol.
