Warsaw. FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski, who scored his 98th and 99th Champions League goals in the 5-2 win over Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday evening, is now eyeing his 100th Champions League goal.
Lewandowski scored two goals in the first half. After the break, the Polish player had a chance to score a hat-trick and score his 100th Champions League goal, but he missed the target.
“During the match, I didn’t think about how many goals I had already scored,” the 36-year-old player told Polish media on Thursday. I missed a good chance to score a hat-trick, but the most important thing was that I had opportunities to score goals. After the match, coach Hansi Flick said smilingly that it would be better if I scored my 100th goal in the competition at our stadium in Barcelona.”
“We were a little hurt by the fact that we conceded two goals,” Lewandowski said. We could have performed better in those circumstances. But we are happy to get three points.”
After the win in Belgrade, FC Barcelona moved up to sixth place in the Champions League group stage classification with nine points. On 26 November, the club will host French team and surprise package Brest.
