Meet Janet Museveni’s Aide De Camp & Former Head Of Security Brigadier General Charity Bainababo
Janet Museveni’s Aide-de-Camp (ADC) and former head of security, Brigadier General Charity Bainababo, has made notable strides in Uganda’s military, becoming one of the country’s most prominent female officers.
Bainababo’s journey began in 1998 when she joined the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), later advancing through various training programs, including the Company Commanders Course in 2008 and the Senior Command and Staff Course at Kimaka from 2016 to 2017.
After her initial training, she held several key roles in the UPDF, including command positions within the Police Presidential Guard (PPG) and the Special Forces Command (SFC).
As Janet Museveni’s ADC, she led the PPG, a special unit within the SFC tasked with protecting high-profile figures, particularly the First Lady and other key officials.
Bainababo’s career has been marked by steady advancement. Promoted to Colonel and subsequently Brigadier General, she now holds the position of Deputy Commander of the SFC, making her one of the highest-ranking women in Uganda’s military.
Known for her strong leadership and security expertise, she has also represented the UPDF in Parliament and serves as the Dean of army MPs. Bainababo’s trajectory highlights her dedication and skill, underscoring her role as a trailblazer for women in Uganda’s armed forces.
