Arsenal are not concerned about their recent run of poor form and remain fully supportive of Mikel Arteta and his plans for the club.
This is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Arteta is “more than comfortable” in his role.
This comes as the Gunners have now failed to win in any of their last three Premier League games, and fell to a 1-0 defeat against Inter Milan in the Champions League.
They have also dropped to fifth in the Premier League, seven points behind leaders Liverpool, after taking five wins, three draws and two defeats in their opening ten games.
Arsenal have been the closest challengers to Man City in each of the last two seasons, with both clubs setting a pace at which any dropped points were viewed as a disaster.
Due to those lofty expectations, Arteta has faced backlash from sections of the fanbase both for the poor run of form and the cautious style of play.
Brown also explained that City’s recent struggles have made the situation even more frustrating as the Gunners have failed to capitalise on a rare dip in form.
Mikel Arteta’s future remains secure despite Arsenal dip in form
Arsenal face Chelsea and Nottingham Forest, two sides above them in the table, in their next two games amid fears that the situation could yet worsen.
Brown, who spent over a decade at Man United during their most successful period and has a wealth of experience at the very top of the game, insisted that any complaints from sections of the fanbase will fall on deaf ears.
“He’s still more than comfortable in the job, there’s no concern there,” he told Football Insider.
“There’s always going to be pressure in that job because the fans expect big things.
“Especially now, they expect to win almost every game and to put in a serious title challenge.
“But he’s become a victim of his own success. Look how far they’ve come since they took over.
“They’ve been the closest challengers to Man City and while they may have missed out at the death both times, they were nowhere near that five years ago.
“But now people start to say they’ve failed because they haven’t won it yet.
“He’s not someone I’ve worked with before so I don’t know how he is behind the scenes, but nobody was complaining when he led them to where they are.
“People start pointing their fingers at him and saying he needs to win trophies, but it’s him who has put them in a position to be able to challenge for them.
“Arteta’s job is not under pressure, and unless something drastic happens I don’t think it will be.
