MP Barasa Calls on African Heads of State to Support Raila Odinga for African Union Commission Chair
UDA Party Member of Parliament (MP) Didmus Barasa has urged all African heads of state to back Raila Odinga’s candidacy for the prestigious position of Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC). Barasa, speaking with conviction, highlighted Odinga’s extensive track record and leadership qualities, asserting that he is the ideal candidate to lead the AUC in addressing the continent’s challenges and advancing Pan-African initiatives.
Barasa emphasized that Odinga’s experience, both at the national and international levels, has positioned him as a formidable candidate with the capacity to navigate the complexities of Pan-African policies and initiatives. “Raila Odinga’s vast political experience, which includes his leadership roles in Kenya and his advocacy for regional integration, uniquely qualifies him to take on the challenges of leading the African Union Commission,” Barasa stated.
The UDA MP further pointed out that Odinga’s long-standing commitment to democracy, good governance, and the promotion of regional cooperation makes him a strong candidate who can unite African countries towards a common vision of prosperity, peace, and stability. He cited Odinga’s consistent calls for a more integrated Africa and his ability to bring together diverse stakeholders to address critical issues like economic development, security, and human rights.
Barasa’s statement comes at a time when the African Union is grappling with numerous challenges, including political instability in certain regions, economic disparities, and the need for stronger continental unity. He expressed confidence that Odinga’s leadership would provide the necessary direction to elevate Africa’s standing on the global stage and promote sustainable development across the continent.
As the race for the AUC leadership heats up, Barasa’s endorsement of Raila Odinga serves as a strong push for the renowned Kenyan politician to garner support from across the continent. His candidacy is seen as a pivotal moment in shaping the future of the African Union and its member states.
