Mt Kenya Elders Tell Gachagua to Support Ruto’s Govt a Week after He was Replaced

Barely a week after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was replaced, Mt Kenya elders have charted path for Gachagua.

Elders from Kikuyu, Embu, Meru and Kamba Communities discused the ouster of Gachagua and asked Kenyans to support him in the transition.

Despite betrayal, they urged Mr. Gachagua to take pride in what he achieved during his two-year tenure as Deputy President.

They requested him to support Ruto’s administration for the benefit of Kenyans.

The leaders stated that they support President William Ruto, the new Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, and the former Deputy President, saying, “We love you all. You are all our children. The GEMA community has said you are ours.”

Before he was ousted, Gachagua cautioned that the people of Mt. Kenya do not forgive betrayal:

“Our people despise betrayal, and they are very unforgiving if you betray them. I ask President Ruto not to take that path,” Gachagua said.

Despite being the second-in-command in the Kenya Kwanza administration, Gachagua was reportedly being sidelined from the centre of power.
