Fans have speculated that two of the main stars of Netflix’s “Outer Banks,” Rudy Pankow and Madison Bailey, had an epic falling out after raising questions about a scene in the series.
Some viewers believe things may have turned sour between the co-stars, and now a scene between the pair that appears to use a stunt double has sent viewers into a meltdown.
The pair, who in the past have been very close, have always been fan favorites both on and off screen.
However, as viewers online hoped for a romance between the pair off-screen just like their characters, rumors emerged that the stars’ respective partners were not happy.
Both actors were even forced to call out fans on social media over the constant attacks on their respective partners.
As the final episodes of the latest season hit Netflix, fans have now theorized that things have gotten worse between the two stars.
Pankow — whose character JJ was tragically killed off in the finale — and Bailey who plays Kiara, were seen sharing an intimate cuddle in one touching scene.
However, the clever camera angles made it so you never saw the pair on-screen at the same time.
Fans rushed to comment on the scene, with many calling the scene “insane”, with some saying it was “obvious” that trickery may have been involved.
News.com.au has reached out to Netflix for clarification.
“This is just insane, the fact that Rudy and Madison refused to record it together and they had to use stunt double just shows their unprofessionalism to their work. And they weren’t even supposed to be doing anything huge in that scene, just hugging a bit,” commented one.
“I’ve never seen actors go this much out of their way to not interact with each other. this is insane,” remarked another.
If fan theories are correct, it wouldn’t be the first time two actors have filmed a scene separately.
In The Good Wife, the final scene between Archie Panjabi and Julianna Margulies was filmed separately and then spliced together by producers to appear as though the pair were talking with each other.
While the truth about the feud has never been revealed, some fans believe that it started after Panjabi won a Best Supporting Actress Emmy for her role in 2010.
Margulies was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series but did not win.
When she was asked if the on-screen tension spoke of any behind-the-scenes drama, Panjabi hinted that something was going on. “You know, I can’t answer that, as much as I want to. But those decisions are made by the producers. I’m not privy to those decisions.”
In 2019, Alan Cumming, a co-star of the pair on the show, confirmed the bad blood between the two actors, but failed to give a reason as to why.
