What to Know

The Nicholls Colonels will look to take advantage of their home-court for the first time this season as they take on the South Alabama Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday at David R. Stopher Gymnasium. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Nicholls is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They fell 91-84 to New Mexico on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Robert Brown III put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 23 points. What’s more, he also racked up three assists, the most he’s had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Michael Gray Jr., who went 5 for 9 en route to 13 points.

Meanwhile, South Alabama couldn’t capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 74-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central Michigan. The Jaguars didn’t live up to their potential and found themselves falling short of the advantage oddsmakers thought they had coming into the game.

Nicholls was able to grind out a solid win over South Alabama in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, winning 102-97. Does Nicholls have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Alabama turn the tables on them? We’ll have the answer soon enough.
