Oppo Find X8 series launch: Hasselblad camera, Dual periscope lens, AI Zoom and more camera features teased ahead of official launch
Oppo Find X8
Oppo is preparing to introduce the Find X8 series, its latest flagship smartphone, featuring a groundbreaking camera system and advanced performance capabilities. The series promises features to redefine smartphone photography, including a dual periscope camera system, AI-powered telescope zoom, and upgraded video recording options, making it a strong choice for photography enthusiasts.
Dual Periscope camera system
The Find X8 series will be equipped with a dual periscope camera system, a first in smartphone technology, with a unique Triple Prism Fold Reflection System. The phone includes a 50MP main camera with Sony’s LYT-808 sensor and a 50MP LYT-600 sensor-equipped 3x telephoto lens. The primary 50MP camera offers clarity in varied lighting conditions due to its two-layer transistor pixel structure, enhancing dynamic range, noise reduction, and light capture.
The periscope camera setup includes a 6x telephoto lens with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) that ensures stable, clear shots even in low light. With both 3x and 6x optical zoom levels, the camera offers versatility for everyday scenarios, from travel photography to capturing details at long range. The design minimizes lens protrusion to keep the device slim while incorporating a high-performing camera setup.
The Find X8’s camera system uses 2-DOL HDR to capture sharper, high-dynamic-range photos, especially useful for fast-moving subjects. This approach enables two simultaneous exposures within the same frame, effectively balancing highlights and shadows. Oppo’s updated HyperTone Image Engine further enhances image quality by making adjustments on RAW sensor data, resulting in detailed, balanced images across various lighting conditions.
AI-Powered Telescope zoom
The Find X8 introduces AI Telescope Zoom, providing users with clear images even at extreme zoom levels up to 120x. Using AI-powered models, it preserves clarity across different zoom ranges. The system deploys specific algorithms at each level, from 10x to 120x, maintaining detail, accurate colours, and balanced shadows for a realistic view of distant subjects.
The Find X8 series will also comes with support for Dolby Vision capture for more lifelike video quality with precise control over brightness and contrast. A 12-bit processing pipeline allows over a billion colours, producing smooth gradients and improved colour accuracy in video content.
Hasselblad Mode and Quick Camera button
In partnership with Hasselblad, Oppo has introduced a dedicated Hasselblad Camera Mode, providing natural bokeh effects, enhanced colour representation, and multiple focal length options. The Find X8 also includes a Quick Camera Button for faster photo and video capture, with features like continuous shooting and swipe-based zoom functionality.
