A multi-agency team in Mombasa has arrested 80 people suspected of being involved in criminal activities within the county.
According to a police report obtained by Citizen Digital, the team led by officer Peter Mugambi and Mombasa County Government officers conducted a routine operation within Mombasa’s Central Business District (CBD) following complaints from residents in the past over a surge in crime.
Through the operation, they managed to arrest 80 suspects who were searched and placed in Mombasa Central Police Station as investigations continue.
The suspects will be taken to court on Tuesday, November 12 to answer for the charges levelled by the officers.
The routine operations comes amid a recent rise in criminal activities within Mombasa County. Recently, a group known as ‘Panga Boys’ have reigned terror by attacking innocent victims and robbing them off their belongings.
Mombasa officers have launched investigations to nab the suspects.
