” Prepare For Blackout” KPLC Announces Long Day Power Outage in The Following Areas
Kenya Power has stated that routine maintenance and upgrade work will be performed on parts of its network tomorrow, resulting in a day-long power outage in impacted districts of Kisii County.
The power utility company said in a statement posted on its official social media handles earlier today that tree-cutting, replacing rotten poles, re-cabling, establishing new transformer structures, rehabilitating jumpers, and stringing conductors for new circuits are among the scheduled activities during the maintenance period.
The maintenance work will have a significant impact on numerous places in Kisii County, with affected communities experiencing a blackout from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
According to Kenya Power, the following areas will be without electricity tomorrow: Masabo, Gesusu Market, Naikuru Secondary School, Keera Market, Nyacheki Market, Isena Mission Hospital, Nyacheki Sub-County Hospital, Entakana Market, Nyacheki Secondary School, and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Residents and businesses in the impacted areas should plan for alternative power sources during the outage. Critical facilities that provide important services have also been instructed to make preemptive preparations as needed to ensure operations continue.
Kenya Power has stated that its experts will work immediately to restore regular supply after the repair work is completed by 5 p.m.
Kenya Power appreciates customers’ understanding as personnel work to conduct vital system improvements and maintenance during the one-day outage period.
The company advises all affected customers in Kisii County to plan accordingly and take proper precautions for the long outage. Key community centers like markets and hospitals will have contingency plans to provide essential services.
