With his latest remarks about the upcoming election for the chair of the African Union Commission (AUC), Pastor Waruinge, who is notorious for making audacious political forecasts, has generated debate.

Even if legendary Kenyan politician Raila Odinga loses his bid for the AUC seat, he suggested that President William Ruto will be the one most impacted.

According to Waruinge, Ruto deliberately supported Raila’s overseas campaign in an effort to ease domestic political tensions by placing a wager that Raila’s exclusion from Kenyan politics would make it more difficult for him to run against him in future elections. Raila’s focus would shift to AUC responsibilities if he were elected, distancing him from Kenyan politics.

However, Waruinge’s prediction warns that this tactic may backfire. Should Raila lose, he could come back to Kenyan politics even more determined. Raila may be able to revive tensions and jeopardize Ruto’s 2027 election preparations because of his solid political base and ability to motivate ardent supporters.

The preacher continued by praising Raila’s perseverance, pointing out that he had bounced back from multiple election setbacks and that a defeat in the AUC fight may only strengthen his resolve. Ruto was advised by Waruinge to be ready for any political fallout from this move.
