Reasons Cheralgei’s Term Limit Extension Proposal Could Be A Long Short Endorsement From Above
Nandi senator county Samson Cheralgei has been on media headlines recently for his controversy. The second term legislator elected under the United Democratic alliance party for his second term as senator, has shown wavering political stand on various matters. On occasions, he has been seen disagreeing with some agendas and officials from the rulling party, in which he’s a member. However, a recent shuffle of his cards in a game best known to the vocal politician is his suggestion to extend the presidential term limit. This has been met with vehement scolding and shun by politicians across divide.
With his controversy particularly on political inclination, senator Cheralgei who could be eying to replace the incumbent governor Sang as his tenure comes to and end, might be set up for an uphill task. This is with the fact that Nandi county is president Ruto’s backyard and it’s unlikely that anyone can dare win against his endorsement or that of the party.
The legislator is however, buckled up and intentional in his moves. Despite busy schedules at the upper house, he has had time nearly every week to attend events back in the county and engage with the people.
Taking it to his social media platform the outspoken politician shared moments of him engaging the residents of Kaptumo centre. He’s seen having tea at the local centre while listening to the concerns and worries of the people. He vowed to help them boost the security in the area and champion for the construction of an ultramodern market, to help boost their business activities.
Here are part of the reactions from Kenyans who responded to his post. Majority lauded him for his devotion to serve the people of Nadi. Some Kenyans however, are still stuck on the grave matter in the air which is on extension of the presidential term limit. They went on to forbid him from progressing on championing of the same.Following the recent swift execution in impeachment of the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, which happened despite of the president publicly endorsing it, do you think the same is going to happen with term extension? Bearing in mind that he has numbers in all the two chambers. Do you think that part of Cheralgei’s controversy during the impeachment process, where he appeared to partly defend the ill fate of Rigathi was all a decoy derailment? Was he just doing that so that we could think he serves no master and assume that whatever he champions for is out of his own independence of thought? Could the president be hidden behind the legislator? Is he paying and afore levy to getting a direct rulling party ticket to run for Nandi county gubernatorial seat?
