Leeds United face QPR in their final match before the international break at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke‘s side will be eager for a quick return to winning ways after just their second defeat of the season at Millwall on Wednesday night.

Attacking players such as Wilfried Gnonto and Dan James were a long way from their best at the Den but the beauty of the Championship is they have a game just a couple of days later to put it right.

Farke will be hoping he doesn’t finish Saturday’s match as frustrated with the referee as he did at Millwall, which he made clear on the touchline.

The Leeds boss could not believe Leigh Doughty kept awarding such soft free-kicks to the home side, as well as adding just four minutes of stoppage time in the second half.

What referee Matthew Donohue did to anger Klich last season

Matthew Donohue has been named as the referee for the clash with QPR this weekend, which will be his first Leeds match of the season.

However, it would be fair to say Leeds do not have great memories of Donohue following some of his performances with the whistle at Elland Road last term.

Donohue was the man in the middle for Leeds’ 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion in August last year, in which he allowed a blatant handball goal from Brandon Thomas-Asante to stand.

He then also failed to award Leeds a penalty after Joe Gelhardt was completely bulldozed in the box to compound not only Farke’s frustration, but also Mateusz Klich.

Klich must have been watching the game live from over in America as he tweeted a five-word summary at full-time, which simply read, ‘Bring the VAR back now!”

What was Leeds’ overall record with Donohue last season?

West Brom wasn’t the only game Donohue produced a frustrating performance in, but also Leeds’ last game of the regular season against Southampton.

Donohue brandished several questionable yellow cards in what ended up being a relatively damp squib of a match, as both sides were all but out of the automatic promotion race.

That was one of four matches in which he officiated of Leeds’ last season, with Farke’s side picking up two wins, one draw and one loss.

The victories came against Norwich City (H) and Plymouth Argyle (A), in which he still wasn’t overly convincing.
