Republican Party Spokesperson Says Trump Wants Israel’s Wars to End Soon, With Decisive Victory

According to Times of Israel, Elizabeth Pipko, spokesperson for the US Republican Party, stated on Wednesday that President-elect Donald Trump wants Israel to achieve swift, decisive victories in its ongoing conflicts. Pipko made these remarks during an interview with Israel’s Channel 12 News following Trump’s recent election win.

When asked if Trump’s statement, “I’m not going to start wars, I’m going to stop wars,” in his victory speech suggested he expects Israel to end its battles with groups like Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza, Pipko responded, “I would say he expects them to end it by winning it, one hundred percent, that’s how he always talks about ending wars.”

Pipko also remarked that she believed Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack — the trigger for the current conflict — would likely not have occurred if Trump had been president. She argued that Israel’s response would have been far different on October 8, under Trump’s leadership.

She added that Trump’s policy on war consistently aims to minimize civilian casualties, while also emphasizing that Trump desires decisive victories to bring conflicts to an end.

Addressing concerns about the potential duration needed for such victories, especially given that Israel’s conflict with Hamas has stretched on for over a year, Pipko implied that the Biden administration’s approach had contributed to the protraction. She described the administration’s policy as “back and forth,” suggesting this lack of decisiveness has prevented a timely resolution.

“When it comes to ending a war in the Middle East and dealing with enemies like Iran or Hamas, you have to be decisive, and I have not seen that from our leadership,” Pipko stated, emphasizing her belief that recent US foreign policy has been influenced by election concerns, leading to “unnecessary bloodshed.”

Pipko declined to comment on whether Trump would endorse action against Iran’s nuclear facilities, stating that Trump himself would address such matters after taking office in January.
