Safaricom broke its quiet this afternoon, issuing a powerful statement to all of its customers living in various local and regional areas.
According to a statement dated November 8, 2024, the mobile service provider has informed all of its clients about the procedures to follow before transferring payments between M-PESA accounts.
Safaricom has asked all users to double-check that they have provided the proper phone number before transferring payments from one M-PESA account to another, in an effort to avoid customers from sending money to the wrong number.
Safaricom went on to say that because the established M-PESA app had a strategic edge in terms of phone book access, users didn’t have to enter the phone number of the intended recipient of a transaction.
