Sivakarthikeyan on comparisons between Amaran and Sidharth Malhotra’s Shershaah: ‘It is a very good film, but I don’t like…’
With Amaran winning a lot of hearts all over India, comparisons were made about the strong romantic core of the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer and Sidharth Malhotra-Kiara Advani’s Shershaah.
In the recent Sivakarthikeyan film, Amaran, director Rajkumar Perisasamy didn’t just tell the army-based story of the late Major Mukund Varadarajan, but explored his personal side through his love story with wife Indhu Rebecca Varghese. A couple of years back, director Vishnuvaradhan did something similar with the story of Col Vikram Batra in Shershaah, headlined by Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani.
With Amaran winning a lot of hearts all over India, comparisons were abound about the strong romantic core of both these films. Team Amaran, who were in Mumbai to promote the film, were asked about the same in an interaction on Pinkvilla. Without missing a beat, Sivakarthikeyan, who played Major Mukund in Amaran said, “Shershaah is a good film, but I don’t like comparisons.”
Explaining how Amaran stemmed out of a place of genuinity, Sivakarthikeyan said, “This is not to prove one was better or both are equal. Amaran was made to show what Mukund and Indhu have given to this country. The first priority was to show that innocent, true, and soulful love. It is this love that has resonated with the audience.”
The actor added that Rajkumar’s research and perspective made a lot of difference to how Amaran was made. “His writing was genuine, Amaran wasn’t made to compete with any Western or Indian films based on the army,” said Sivakarthikeyan.
