Team Atacama receives clothing to participate in the Atacalar 2024 Games – Diario Chañarcillo
49 people, including athletes, technicians and support professionals, constitute the representative of Team Atacama, which will participate in the Atacalar 2024 Games, which will take place in the city of <a href=”https://www.archysport.com/2022/05/the-eda-program-began-in-catamarca/” title=”The EDA program began in Catamarca“>Tinogasta, province of Catamarca, Argentina.
This sports and national integration tournament will take place from November 15 to 17, and includes the participation of delegations from Chile and Argentina, with the participation of representatives from the Region of Atacama, Catamarca, La Rioja, Santiago del Estero and Tucumán.
The Atacama representative is preparing to embark on a trip, and so yesterday a ceremony was held in which, on behalf of the Regional Government of Atacama, sports clothing was delivered to him. Representatives of table tennis and judo participated on the occasion.
The competition includes the disciplines of beach volleyball, 3×3 basketball, futsal, sevens hockey, table tennis, judo and mountain biking.

The Regional Governor, Miguel Vargas Correa and the Seremi del Deporte, Arling Guzmán, the athletes, technicians and families of the young people participated in the delivery of the sports clothing.
The Tierramarillano judoka Benjamín Rojas indicated “I think it is a very good contribution, I am also very happy to be able to have the opportunity to participate in these Games and to be able to represent my commune and my region. My expectations are to become champion and for that I am preparing and doing what I have done throughout the year.”
While the Seremi del Deporte stated that “we are happy because this is the result of an articulated and coordinated work between the Ministry of Sports-National Institute of Sports, and of course, the Regional Government, who has promoted this initiative to be able to open more competitive sports spaces for our athletes. The delegation is going to travel to Tinogasta, to the province of Catamarca in Argentina, and we hope that they can enjoy this experience and also, of course, continue on this path of coordinated, articulated work, where the Regional Government has provided fundamental support for the development of the sports area of our region.”
For its part, the Regional Government indicated that “we are very committed from the Regional Government to work on all lines that involve promoting sport at a recreational level, and mainly at a competitive level. That is why we are working closely with the National Sports Institute, with the regional ministerial secretariat of this portfolio, that in the Atacama region we are supporting the Atacalar Sports Games, the National Sports Games; now also the Atacalar Sports Games, which we have been promoting since 2022.”
He added “there are 49 people who are part of the Atacama delegation; There are young people from different communes in the region, who are part of Team Atacama, in different disciplines: 3×3 basketball for women and men; cycling, mountain biking for women and men; table tennis for women and men, judo for women and men, beach volleyball for women and men and futsal for men. We are very hopeful about our delegation; “They have prepared quite well and we are going to continue on this path of stimulating sport, making efforts in all areas.”
Regarding this participation, the table tennis coach, Juan Marín San Martín said that “it is always very nice to accompany children to this type of competitions; because apart from sport, they can also get to know other cultures, other athletes, in this case in Argentina. It is always a very good experience for them, so that they can measure themselves, so that they can advance in their activities.”
Another athlete, Juan Carlos Garrido, a tennis player and student at the Lyceum of Music, said “it is exciting, since it is the first international tournament in which I have participated. I have been practicing table tennis for two years now, and I have qualified for national tournaments and other competitions. “This is my first international participation.”
Gustavo Cepeda García, judo team coach, said “it is a great opportunity for these young people who are leaving the school process and continue the competitive continuity that they already bring from the School Games; So it is important for them not to lose competitive experiences and to be able to continue growing in our sport. We have a total of 6 athletes, three men and three women, and the technical team, which is me and the women’s technician is Jazmín Rojas.”
He commented that they go with all the desire after the triumphs and with great preparation, to achieve success in the fight.
