‘We don’t need that’… Enzo Maresca shares what he didn’t like despite Chelsea’s 8-0 win against Noah

There must’ve been very little that didn’t impress the Chelsea manager during their resounding 8-0 Conference League win over Noah last night.

Enzo Maresca was able to rotate heavily again and allow his fringe players to make a case to him that they should be handed more opportunities in the coming weeks.

Mykhailo Mudryk made a case for a start against Arsenal as he scored the pick of the bunch from the eight goals they hit, including six in the first half.

A number of youngsters were given a runout too, with Maresca impressed by Tyrique George in his first start for the club.

Enzo Maresca not impressed Chelsea nearly conceded against Noah

Despite the dominant scoreline, Noah had a number of chances to find the net at Stamford Bridge, with the best coming after just a few minutes.

Maresca stated after the game that his side were risking underestimating their opponents, something they need to avoid in this competition.

He said to Football London: “In the first five minutes, we conceded a chance. You have to be focused. The way to show respect to them is to not underestimate them. Football is full of these kind of surprises. We don’t need that.”

Complacent goals being conceded has been a theme of Chelsea’s season so far, with many seeing a lot of them as avoidable at times.

Maresca to make plenty of changes for Chelsea vs Arsenal

The backline who started last night are likely to all be out of the starting side when the Premier League returns at the weekend with the big game against Arsenal.

The big concern for the Blues will be the fitness of Cole Palmer. He is yet to be seen in training this week.

Maresca hinted that he was hoping Palmer would be fit, although admitted that starting him could be seen as a risk.

Joao Felix proved last night that if needed he would be the best replacement for Palmer, after finding the net twice in the first half of their dominant victory last night.
