Some people just have staying power. After turning 60 earlier this year, comedian Cedric the Entertainer has plenty to show for his hard work. One of The Original Kings of Comedy, his sitcom The Neighborhood returned for a seventh season last month. Earlier this year, he did a Vegas residency alongside singer and friend Toni Braxton called Love & Laughter, which ran from April through July.

It seems that staying power also applies to his love life. As of this September, the comedian – whose real name is Cedric Antonio Kyles – has been married to his wife Lorna Wells for a quarter of a century. So just who is she? Here’s what we know.

She’s not about the publicity

Her husband may love taking to the stage to perform stand-up in front of thousands and be comfortable in front of the camera, but Wells is the opposite. “Lorna is like this quiet personality,” Kyles told Tamron Hall earlier this year. He’s also described her as “not a social media kind of person” to BET – as evidenced by his own posts about her on Instagram.

“Shout out to my beautiful Queen Lorna,” he wrote in a Mother’s Day tribute back in 2020. “PS She hates being on the ’gram, so this post can go either way,” he added, followed by prayer hands and a crying with laughter emoji.

Lorna Wells grew up in LA

Lorna Wells’ deliberately non-existent online footprint means not much is known about her background other than what Kyles has said about her over the years.

“She is a real OG from LA”, he told BET. “So you know, her love is sincere, direct and purposeful, and she makes sure that I return that.” Parade notes that she worked in the costume department on various Hollywood productions, including City Guys and Muppets Tonight, before settling down to have a family with Kyles.
