Nigerian champions, Edo Queens, are guaranteed at least N252m for participating in the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco.
This was after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced a 52% rise in the total prize money earmarked for the championship which started in 2021.
The percentage rise in the pool now amounts to a total of $2.35 million.
Further incentive for Edo Queens and other participants will be to aspire to the top of the competition as winners.
The eventual champions will receive 600,000 US Dollars which is approximately N1,005,708,000.00.
The Nigerian Queens left for the competition in Morocco on Wednesday where they will play Mamelodi Sundowns, FC Masar and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in Group B.
Edo Queens will open their campaign against the Ethiopian club on November 10, 2024; afterwards, they will play Masar of Egypt three days later, before rounding off their group action against defending champions, Sundowns of South Africa.
The winner of the eight-team championship will qualify for the group stage of following edition.
