A Yerevan court on Friday allowed Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan to visit opposition politician Armen Ashotyan who is currently under house arrest.
Ashotyan, the deputy chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) who served as Armenia’s education minister from 2012-2016, was moved to house arrest in September more than one year after being held in custody.
Presiding judge Vahe Dolmazyan granted a defense motion to allow the cleric’s visits to Ashotyan for spiritual guidance at today’s court hearing.
Ashotyan has been charged with abuse of power and money laundering strongly denied by him as politically motivated.
