Ever seen a giant chicken hotel? This Philippines resort just broke a ‘Guinness World Record’
The world’s largest chicken-shaped hotel, located in the Philippines, boasts 15 rooms and a Guinness World Record for its massive, quirky design.
If you’re ever in the Philippines and have a quirky taste in architecture, you might want to check out the world’s largest building shaped like a chicken. Standing proudly in Campuestohan, Negros Occidental, this colossal structure is part of the Campuestohan Highland Resort.
Measuring an impressive 34.931 metre (about 115 feet) tall, 12.127 metre (almost 40 feet) wide, and 28.172 metre (about 92 feet) long, it’s no small feat. The building houses 15 rooms equipped with all the comforts you’d expect, like air conditioning, large beds, TVs, and showers.
This audacious idea is the brainchild of Ricardo Cano Gwapo Tan, whose wife originally bought the resort’s land. Planning for the enormous chicken took around six months, and on June 10, 2023, construction got underway. On September 8, 2024, the structure earned a Guinness World Record (GWR). An additional hurdle for the team was that the design had to be able to survive the frequent storms and typhoons in the area.

Talking to GWR on why a chicken was chosen as the building’s inspiration, Tan shared, “Negros Occidental has a gamefowl industry that employs millions of people in the Philippines. If you look at a rooster, it looks calm and commanding, imposing and strong, which reflects the attitude of our people.” He also added, “I had a vision to make something with a wow factor that can really leave a footprint of admiration to the public.”
GWR posted pictures of the hotel on their Instagram account with the caption, “Quirky hotel located in Negros Occidental, Philippines, becomes world’s largest building shaped like a chicken.”
Many users left comments on the post to share their amusement. One user wrote, “That’s NOT a chicken that’s a rooster.” Another individual added, “What part of the giant chicken is the building?” A third user commented, “I’ve always thought Guinness World Records were strange, and this post confirms it.”
