Christmas street lights are being donated to brighten up two seaside resorts.

The City of Lincoln Council invested £140,000 upgrading its festive decorations in 2023.

The authority is now giving the previous illuminations to Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea for free to spread some festive cheer.

Town councillor Rob Watson, who represents Sutton on Sea on East Lindsey District Council, said it was a “fantastic gift”.

Watson said the deal was agreed following a chance conversation with a city councillor.

“This is a fantastic gift for us because we don’t have an awfully great display of lights in our deprived coastal town and village, so I thought it was too good an offer to refuse,” he said.
