Arsenal hold talks with Geovany Quenda

London giants Arsenal have reportedly contacted the representatives of 17-year-old Portuguese prodigy Geovany Quenda, a target for Liverpool and Manchester United.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Geovany Quenda is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners have contacted the Sporting CP prodigy’s entourage to hold talks regarding a move. Meanwhile, the Portuguese wonderkid is also a target for Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United amid his skyrocketing stock.

The rapid rise of Geovany Quenda

Geovany Quenda has seen his stock soar since breaking into the first-team squad at Sporting CP this season. The teenage sensation has also represented SL Benfica in his youth career but has graduated from the fabled academy at Sporting CP. However, very few might have envisioned the youngster taking to the senior setup like a fish to water.

The 17-year-old made his first-team bow for Sporting CP at the onset of the 2024/25 season. Quenda has amassed nearly 1000 minutes of game time across 17 outings in all competitions thus far this term, chipping in with two goals and two assists. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

High in demand

Recent reports have claimed that Arsenal and Liverpool have submitted enquiries to discuss Quenda’s situation. The North London club can do with a versatile wide player like the Portuguese prodigy, who can be Bukayo Saka’s understudy while being an option for other positions. The Gunners have approached the youngster’s entourage to hold talks regarding a move.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in Geovany Quenda is understandable. The Reds are in a spot of bother regarding Mohamed Salah’s future. So, the Sporting CP wonderkid has emerged as a viable target, although he will unlikely fill the Egyptian’s void straightaway. As for Chelsea, Quenda might only be an option worth considering if they offload at least one wide attacker.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are also keen on signing Quenda from Sporting CP. The right-wing berth has been the achilles heel for the Red Devils, with Antony and Jadon Sancho being expensive flops. So, Quenda has emerged as a viable target for Manchester United.

The Portuguese prodigy will not come cheap, considering he has a sizeable release clause in his contract with Sporting CP. In addition, the Primeira Liga champions will unlikely enter negotiations with prospective suitors regarding the 17-year-old wonderkid.
