Today Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja appeared before the National Assembly’s Committee on Administration and Internal Security Thursday to address various issues ailing the police service. His testimony was directed toward the ongoing police reforms, addressing security challenges, and operations aimed at improving law enforcement across the country.
In the session, Kanja updated on the progress with regard to police modernization, like the introduction of modern technology to investigate crimes, improving police training facilities. He also referred to the efforts of the force in strengthening community policing and public relationships.
The current infrastructure and resource base for police operations were among the major talking points. Kanja noted that although major steps have been taken in upgrading facilities and procuring new equipment, the forces need much more investment if they are to meet the increasing security challenges, especially in urban areas.

This appearance marked one of the continuous interactions between the police command and lawmakers to ensure better security and effective law enforcement in Kenya.
