‘Listen here, sweetheart’: Possible Trump AG pick threatens NY’s Letitia James with ‘prison’
Known for his inflammatory, often threatening social media posts, far-right MAGA attorney Mike Davis is reportedly a contender for U.S. attorney general under President-elect Donald Trump’s second administration.
Another possibly is Judge Aileen Cannon, the Trump appointee who was assigned to special counsel Jack Smith’s classified documents case and ultimately dismissed it. Between the two, Cannon is much more even-handed in her Trumpisms.
Following Trump’s Election Night victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, Davis has been making threatening comments against New York State Attorney General Letitia James — who, according to Politico, is among the possible targets for retaliation on the incoming president’s “enemies list.”
During a post-election appearance on far-right Benny Johnson’s podcast, Davis told the host, “Let me just say this to big Tish James, the New York attorney general. I dare you, I dare you to try to continue your lawfare against President Trump in his second term. Listen here, sweetheart, we’re not messing around this time, and we will put your fat ass in prison for conspiracy against rights. I promise you that.”
Davis continued, “So think long and hard before you want to violate President Trump’s constitutional rights or any other American’s constitutional rights. It’s not going to happen again.”
James brought about a massive civil fraud case against Trump, alleging that he deceived banks by seriously exaggerating the value of his real estate assets. The case, assigned to Justice Arthur Engoron, resulted in penalties that, factoring in interest, add up to $489 million.
After Trump’s election victory, James held a press conference with New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and emphasized that winning a second term as president does not make him above the law.
James, in a statement, said, “I am ready to do everything in my power to ensure our state and nation do not go backwards. Together with Gov. Hochul, our partners in state and local government, and my colleague attorneys general from throughout the nation, we will work each and every day to defend Americans, no matter what this new administration throws at us. We are ready to fight back again.”
